The waste plastic is ground and fused together with a cold set resin. The end product is waterproof, fire retardant, won't rot and has a high insulation value.
The Welsh Assembly Government backed Affresol's efforts. The company has set a target of 3,000 homes in the next three years with each home diverting 40,000 tons of waste from landfills. The cost is about $60,000 to $75,000 per planned unit.
