The Fallen Fruit EATLACMA Project 2010 Has Launched

A new year-long project, EATLACMA, is a collaboration between the LA County Museum of Art and Fallen Fruit to explore the social role of food and art and the rituals of eating.

Fallen Fruit is an activist art project that started out by creating maps of fruit trees growing on or over Los Angeles’ public property. The maps served to springboard discussion about neighborhood, public/private property, and ideas about community.

As a metaphor, fallen fruit symbolizes the ways that we’ve become disconnected from the things that both literally and figuratively nourish us as human beings.
