Mountain-Inspired Fragrances

'A Scent by Issey Miyake' Evokes the Japanese Landscape

Issey Miyake will launch a perfume inspired by the smell of the mountains in Japan. The aptly named 'A Scent by Issey Miyake' is a tribute to the poetry of minimalism and features notes of jasmine, musk, galbanum, lemon verbena, hyacinth, cedar wood, and crystal moss. The perfume was created by perfumer Daphne Bugey, who has created scents for DSquared, Miss Sixty and Kenzo.

'A Scent by Issey Miyake' will feature a bottle by celebrated Paris-based Israeli designer Arik Levy. The clear bottle’s features include an extruded profile with rough edges. These extrusions are how Levy created a bridge between his design ideas and Miyake’s. Levy used the idea of raw, industrial art as a reference point when creating the bottle that comes in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. For an added twist, the size range of the bottle is extended horizontally, as opposed to the regular vertical extension.

'A Scent by Issey Miyake' will be available in September.
