Miss Universe Contestant Shocks With Leg-Bearing Looks

Emiri Miyasaka has shocked the pageant world with her sexy national costume for the upcoming Miss Universe 2009 competition. Created by Yoshiyuki Ogata, the costume features a very short kimono for the top and for the bottom, bright pink panties complete with matching garters and stockings.

The Miss Universe costume has been met with mixed reviews. Some have embraced the look, while others say that the costume is an insult to the Japanese culture.

Ines Ligron, the national director for Miss Universe Japan, one of the top pageant directors in the industry, has stated that her is vision is all about delivering innovation and she is inspired by “the movers and shakers” such as John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Miyake and Junya Watanabe.

Ligron has brought gorgeous high fashion, spunk and creativity to the Miss Universe Japan franchise since she took over about 10 years ago. Japan is now considered by many to be a powerhouse in the industry. Ligron has produced 3 semi-finalists and one winner.
