Aerial Drug Sniffing

Dutch Police Use 'Canna Chopper' To Find Cannabis

When it comes to finding drugs, canines are particularly effective at sniffing out the goods. The problem with dogs is that they don’t fly.

To solve that problem the Dutch Police have launched a cannabis sniffing helicopter dubbed the “Canna Chopper”.

Equipped with video and sniffing capabilities, the remote controlled unit is being used to sniff out illegal gardens of cannabis.

Growing cannabis is big business in the Netherlands with profits of 2 billion Euro in 2008. However, only 10% is sold legally-the rest is smuggled out of the country by organized crime groups.
