Porcelain Hooligans

Barnaby Barford Depicts Children Performing Chilling Acts of Violence

Those who thought Barnaby Barford’s 2007 round of porcelain sculptures was vulgar probably won’t be any more impressed by his latest collection either.

His 2009 collection, entitled ‘The Good, The Bad, The Belle’, explored notions of lost youth and included a porcelain figure of gun-toting children shooting Santa Claus called ‘Does that mean we’re not getting any presents?’ and another figure that depicted a violent attack being recorded (no doubt bound for YouTube) called ‘Do it again, I didn’t press record.’

With these unique narrative pieces, Barford certainly has given classic porcelain sculptures a chilling modern twist.
