Controversial Canine Activism

PETA Dresses as KKK To Protest Westminster Dog Show in NYC

PETA made a surprise visit at the Westminster Dog Show to protest canine maltreatment associated with these types of pet performance events.

“Dressed as Ku Klux Klan members, PETA will protest outside the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden on Monday, holding signs that read, ‘KKK and AKC Support Pure Bloodlines,’” a People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals press release says.

“In the pursuit of ‘purity,’ some breeders kill dogs who are not the ‘right’ color. Meanwhile, a growing overpopulation crisis is forcing pounds and animal shelters to destroy an increasing number of mutts,” the release continues.

PETA hopes their Ku Klux Klan stunt will convince Westminister Dog Show participants to follow the model of the British Kennel Club which encourages quality treatment of canines and selects only the healthiest dogs as winners.
