Child Illusionary Photography

Trivializing Adolescence

Jon Von Holleben of South West Germany is recreating classic legends through illusionary photography. There is a Peter Pan in all of us, especially as America is preoccupied with the limbo in adolescence. Contagious laughter arises after seeing commercials that feature people getting kicked in the nuts or falling out of a window.

Recent successes in cinematography such as Super Bad highlight teenage predicaments towards life.

Von Hollebens’ collection of photos revisits Peter Pan, Superman, ET, Ghost Busters, A Midsummer’s Night Dream and America’s victory of landing on the moon. He has presented a reoccurring theme in western culture in an inventive and creative way. His work reinvents and trivializes stories that people have given significant meaning to.

His photographic illusions suggest that escaping the punches from life is merely a story in itself.
