Headbanging on Hands & Knees

Hair-Swinging Ritualistic Photography by Norbert Briar

These awesome headbanging pictures are shot by New York-based artist Norbert Briar. I like crouching women in the streets any time of day, but when they shake their heads and let their lovely locks fall down on the concrete pavement, it is rock-on-charming beyond words.

The way these women are positioned almost remind me of some pagan earth-worshiping ritual, or that “Earth Song” video by Michael Jackson, where you see all kinds of people on their knees crying for the Earth.

I doubt Norbert Briar had any of these thoughts in mind when taking these intriguing photographs, however. Briar is known to depict women in architectonic settings a lot. In fact, it is a central theme throughout his work. In this ‘4s series,’ four female subjects are depicted as iconic decoys in different urban locations in Nassau County, New York. Swing that hair mama!
