Real-Life Fashtography

Ami Sioux's Editorials Capture the Essence of Their Subjects

I am a big fan of Ami Sioux's international fashion stories, which are often featured in ID Magazine and a long list of the hippest publications in the world such as Nylon, Self Service, ID, and Dazed Japan. I love the cheeky but very feminine mood of the universes she creates through her lens. The women in her fashion stories are strong, striking and independent individuals, which I think is a pretty good representation of our sex.

Ami Sioux is an American photographer who broke through as a professional photographer in in New York in the mid-90s. She is mainly known for her lovely fashion editorials but her work is very widely used for portraits and advertising. She's even published her own photography book.

Ami Sioux now lives and works in Paris where she is working on her next book project, entitled 'PARIS 48°50N 2°23E.' I would love to get my hands on that book, which will hit the bookstores in the autumn of 2009.
