Sliced Sofas

The ‘Cut Armchair' by Filippo Ghezzani

This unique, aptly named, chair called the 'cut armchair' was designed by Filippo Ghezzani for the Home Key's 'Simple Collection.'

It is made of four vertically cut autonomous parts which stand individually to form the entire piece.

This looks to me like it would nicely complement the Dexter dining room suite I posted a few weeks ago.

Implications - Something like a chair might traditionally be just something you sit on, but bold and unusual designs like this represent the changing expectations that wealthy consumers have of their furniture. To these customers, interior decor is as much about aesthetic ingenuity as it is about function, so any business trying to hone in on this market would do well to keep this fact firmly in mind.
