Dual GeForce GTX 260 to be Named GeForce GTX 295

NVIDIA are to give their flagship consumer graphics processor, the G200 an overhaul.

They plan to use the new 55nm silicon fabrication process and make new SKUs using the benefit of enhanced thermal and electrical properties.

Also in their plans is a dual-GPU card based on two GeForce GTX 260 GPUs to be named GeForce GTX 295.

NVIDIA is hoping to top the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2, which is the fastest single graphics card around. The card will have two G200b cores in the 216 SP configuration, no further information is known at the moment.

The card, which has passed design phase and awaits trial production and testing is hoped to be released in January 2009.
