90s Rock Collaborations

Green Day and Nirvana's Butch Vig

During the 90s, Nirvana producer and Garbage drummer Butch Vig was the grunge to Shirley Manson's glam, and everyone knew all the words to Green Day's entire "Dookie" album. Butch Vig's work on Nirvana's "Nevermind" is hailed as a major reason the grunge-rock band hit the mainstream.

According to former bandmate Shirley Manson, Butch Vig's next venture is producing Green Day's new album. In an interview with Carson Daly, Manson indicated that since she and her fellow Garbage bandmates were busy with other projects, she wasn't sure whether there would be a new Garbage album.

For their part, Green Day has been laying low. In 2006, the band noted on its website that they were working on some new projects, according to MTV, before reappearing in late 2007 under the name Foxboro Hot Tubs.
