Diesel Black Gold Spring 2009

Diesel Black Gold launched at the last Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week to much enthusiasm by fashion connoisseurs worldwide.

Set against a glittering black backdrop, the Spring 2009 ready to wear collection was hip to its Italian core. The show opened with a model sporting a dramatic black, feathered headdress paired with a rather plain ensemble, but spiced up with with Big Bird yellow ankle booties.

Following that was a man with embellished shoulder tassels, like Prince Charming wore in Disney’s adaption of Cinderella.

Other notable pieces including powder blue angel wings worn as overly dramatic shoulder pads, worn with an angelic white ensemble. They surfaced later again strapped onto the suspenders of hazy, sky blue overalls.

A Robin Hood-style black cap was paraded down the runway by a gent in a leather jacket, untucked shirt and white baggy pants.

And is it me, or did the blonde models, like Natasha Poly, sport dark silver eyebrows?

Diesel Black Gold is a brand extension of the globally beloved fashion house which focuses much more heavily on luxury apparel than the more casual jeans with which Diesel made its claim to fame.
