Imagine if you could point an x-ray flashlight at a wall and be able to see what lies behind it - just like Superman with his x-ray vision. That’s what Chris O’Shea did with his “Out of Bounds” gallery installation. This is a form of augmented reality made possible with projectors and cameras plus some nifty code work in C++ using OpenCV and openFrameworks.
Chris O’Shea is an interactive media artist who did this project as a commission for Designers in Residence at the Design Museum, London. When visitors point the flashlight at the walls, they get to see different behind-the-scenes places of the museum like the workshop, the staff office and the plant room.
