A visual representation of this word would go a lot further, and indeed it does just that in the work of Canadian sculpture David Altmejd.
His work looks like it belongs in a fashion shop for creatures of the night, a place where werewolves go to shop.
The contrast between the highly decorative and the strangely repulsive makes his work extremely original.
“I think about decay not in a negative way, but in the sense of creating a space for things to start growing,” he explains.
