138,000 Tickets Converted Into Astro Boy Pixel Art

In celebration of the opening of Tokyo's new Fukutoshin subway line, a unique 10 x 7 ft Astro Boy mural has been unveiled at the Shinjuku Takashimaya Department Store.

Created by volunteers from Takashimaya and the surrounding area, the Astro Boy Pixel Art was created using 138,000 recycled Tokyo Metro tickets. The impressive environment-friendly art features Astro Boy, Uran, Professor Ochanomizu and Higeoyaji (Mr. Mustachio) in Shinjuku along with the new Fukutoshin train.
