Back when I was knee-high to a grasshopper and engaged in a by-gone era of gaming, I looked at examples of Yoshitaka Amano's Final Fantasy art in instruction manuals and gaming magazines and my imagination ran wild.
You see, back then, when technology was actually a barrier between storytelling and imagination, Amano's art expressed the mood and tone of the Final Fantasy series better than any still screenshots of the game ever could. Now, Amano is finally getting his due for his striking Final Fantasy art with Dark Horse Comics' slipcase release of 'The Sky' which collects Amano's Final Fantasy art over the past 25 years.
Now that the technology has caught up to the imagination, I'd love to see Amano's striking art style adapted directly to a new video game.
