Sickly Anatomical Scultures

Leo Ferdinando Demetz's Disturbing Sculpture Contaminates Confusion

The sickly and confusing wall-mounted sculpture by Leo Ferdinando Demetz looks as though it is slowly being sucked into a swamp of disease.

The vague subject matter behind the sculpture may be interpreted subjectively by the audience but the disturbing sensation it creates is a universal one. The mounted human figure is covered in faint army green with his mouth open. It looks as though the disease has almost covered his whole body as the artist has left sporadic spots on the head uncontaminated.

The artist presents the work in varying compositions by placing large complex objects in the figure's open mouth that looks like an oddly tangled tree root. The work overall is intriguing for its unexplanatory composition, raw figurine as well as its disturbing coloring and composition
