Light Controlling Windows

This New Smart Glass Tech Helps Regulate Home Heat and Lighting

The designers at AIST have come up with a new design for energy efficient and light controlling windows that could revolutionize heat, energy and light levels in a room.

Lately there have been breakthroughs in light controlling windows called chromatic glass. The downfall of light controlling chromatic glass is that it heats up as the current passes through it, and that excess heat gets pumped back into the room. AIST’s design relies on hydrogen instead of electric current, further reducing energy useage. The glass can also go from a mirror state to 70 percent light clearance in only five seconds, while chromatic glass generally needs at least 30 seconds for the same task.

Not only does this light controlling system help energy and heating levels, but it’s also great for effectively watching horror movies in the middle of the afternoon too.
