Touchless Remote Controls

The eyeSight Gesture-Based System Gives Control Without Physical Contact

This gesture-based system could very well change the way you interact with your gadgets. This new gesture-based technology from eyeSight Technologies allows users to remotely control their gadgets such as laptops, tablets and smartphones through gestures, even across a room.

Imagine that you don’t even need to touch your device or a remote control to tell it what to do. From people who are too lazy to find the remote to change the channel, to disabled people with limited mobility, this system could very well prove a boon to the way humans interact with technology.

Similar technology does already exist with Microsoft’s Kinect sensor for the Xbox 360, but the Kinect is a full body tracker, while eyeSight’s gesture-based system can detect individual finger tips with nothing more than a 2D webcam. The only catch to the system is that it would have to have been pre-installed at the hardware level before a user could play around with it.
