Darfur Organization Spoofs Louis Vuitton, Gets Sued

Danish artist Nadia Plesner is getting sued by Louis Vuitton for using the name and logo of the French fashion house in a defamatory fashion line. Plesner, who runs the Simple Living campaign in support of the victims of Darfur, sells products with images of a naked child carrying a Louis Vuitton-style bag in one arm, and a chihuahua under the other, a la Paris Hilton, to benefit the Divest for Darfur organization.

Implications - The infringement charges Plesner received for his campaign may well have been worth if for the sake of this incredible cause. From February to April 2008, the battle with design house Louis Vuitton began, but Plesner did not let this stop her. We are certainly glad the case has been wrapped up, so people can enjoy this powerful artwork and further steps can be taken to support the tragic victims of Darfur.
