3D printing has expanded into the elite haute couture fashion world with the unveiling of 3D printed dresses during Paris Fashion Week.
The line, entitled VOLTAGE, is a collaboration between Dutch designer Iris van Herpen, Stratasys and Materialise. The eleven-piece collection is chock full of beautiful and elaborate frocks, which aim to vary softness and elasticity in its designs. The garments were made with the assistant of Nrei Oxman from MIT's Media Lab and 3D printing by Stratasys. This revolution in clothes making deviates away from the traditional method of intricate hand made clothing to a new sub culture of tech-couture, where code is all that is needed.
