The wonderful and whimsical Wind Up Light has no switch; to turn it on, you exhale into the back of the fixture. Julien Bergignat wished to infuse his floor lamp with a dose of youthful playfulness, beginning with the imaginative association between lightbulb and bubble.
The glass of the standard incandescent globe certainly resembles the clear form of a bubble escaping from a plastic wand. To enhance this imagery further, the designer has incorporated a colorful element to the light fixture that channels the spectrum you can see in soap.
The Wind Up Light stands at a height that is conveniently accessible to people of different ages and sizes. Simply position your mouth close to the back, expel a puff to turn it one and another to switch it off.
