The Rustic Collection Embraces the Forms Pastoral Northern Portugal

The design of furniture has the potential for so much infused imagination to bring pieces to life beyond their basic functionality. The Rustic Collection demonstrates what fun can be had in embellishing the forms of familiar pieces in order to bring character to inanimate objects.

During a residency in north Portugal, designer Gonçalo Campos was inspired by the material and the equipment found around him. Wood was used to construct a table, a bookcase and a low cabinet that each has a whimsically country quality about it. These features were integrated as accents outside of the elementary frames of the furnishings. The Rustic Collection includes a table with a timber birdcage on top, a bookshelf with a wheelbarrow base and a sideboard with picketed doors and a charming trussed pattern.
