Phones for the Disabled

Braille and Surface Scanner Cell Phones

Designer Serghei Tanas decided to do something about the fact that mobile phone technology has ignored the needs of the disabled thus far. It offers special features that will assist with the blind such as braille features.

"This phone features a braille keypad which will enable the blind to use the phone like any other conventional phone," says Gizmowatch. "You even have a sensory ring with surface scanners. The large screen we assume is for the mute and the deaf, so that they can navigate easily and efficiently amidst the phone's various features."

The phone is still in its very early conceptual stage,s but I like the fact that this issue is getting some needed attention. Kudos to Mr. Tanas.
