Gilles Larrain Chanel Paintings Present a Distorted Perspective

The beauty of the classic Chanel No. 5 perfume bottle has been celebrated in the work of many artists, but the Gilles Larrain Chanel Paintings series shows a different perspective on the iconic bottle.

The paintings started out with the classic clean lines and silhouetted imagery that is often used when depicting this perfume, however the series quickly took a new turn. Inspired by his own collection of Chanel No. 5 bottles, the artist experimented with Polaroid film techniques without the use of Photoshop or other computer program manipulation techniques. The result is a crackled, stained glass look that creates a more interesting visual impact than a plain silhouette would.
