Minimalist Telepresence Devices

The KUBI Robotic Tablet Stand Tracks Who You’re Talking To

If you find telepresence robots creepy, then you’re going to love the KUBI robotic tablet stand. The KUBI (Japanese for “neck”) is designed to make video chatting on a tablet feel a bit more personal. The stand was designed by Revolve Robotics, a San Francisco-based company.

The KUBI robotic tablet stand works in one of two ways; callers can either use onscreen controls to rotate the stand, or they can use a “web based motion portal” that works with existing video chatting services such as Skype and Facetime. The stand connects to devices using Bluetooth 4.0, so it will function with all types of tablets. The makers of the KUBI robotic tablet stand are currently seeking $200,000 on Indiegogo. If successful, Resolve Robotics is planning on selling the KUBI for $200.
