Birds on Twitter Lets Tomtits Tweet

Birds on Twitter is perhaps the most meta thing to ever hit the Internet. The literally named project was created by Latvian conceptual artist Voldemar Dudums. Birds on Twitter is exactly what it sounds like: a project that lets birds tweet for themselves. Dudums originally created Birds on Twitter for a Latvian weekly magazine that was trying to up its social media cred and reinforce its core value of “everyone has a right to be heard.”

Dudums put bacon fat on the keys of a keyboard to encourage the wild birds outside his home to begin tweeting. The birds are quite active and usually send out about 150 messages per day. Most of their tweets contain random characters and numbers, although they have mastered “lol” and “omg.” Despite tweeting nothing but gibberish, the @hungry_birds handle has managed to amass some 200 followers.
