Aleksandra Pollner is a ceramic artist that creates concept sculptures often based on everyday objects. Whether they are fortune cookies or axes, Aleksandra Pollner manages to give these once mundane items a breath of new life. Interestingly enough, they do end up looking like ghosts of their former selves to their all-white coloring.
Hailing from Gdansk, Poland, Aleksandra Pollner now lives and works out of Seattle, Washington. Although her ceramic creations are what put her on the map, Aleksandra Pollner also works with basic clay, porcelain, granite and wood.
According to Aleksandra Pollner, "Each piece holds its own story/concept and for me they are archetypal images of an ever evolving story/stories[....] I feel like those objects are always talking and asking something of the material and to some degree of us."
