The Age Man Suit (also known as the Age Explorer) was created to give a younger person insight into the physical limitations of the elderly. In fact, it takes it to the next level, forcing them to physically experience these limitations by simulating the body of an older person.
Developed by Meyer-Hentschel Institut in collaboration with the Evangelical Geriatrics Centre in Berlin, Germany. The Age Man Suit weighs 22 pounds and includes ear flaps to muffle hearing, a yellow visor to obscure sight, padded gloves to dull the sense of touch as well as knee and elbow pads to restrict joint movement. Made to simulate the deteriorating body of a person 75 years or older, it was created to encourage more empathy from geriatric physicians.
