A 24 carat gold synthesizer is now available marking the 10th anniversary of Moog Music's Minimoog Voyager
The instrument originally found popularity in the 70s as an instrumental piece of electronic, jazz and progressive rock music. Now Moog Music is releasing 30 special edition units with five available in the U.S. and 25 worldwide. With translucent knobs, 24-carat gold casing, black piano lacquer and Japanese Awabi pearl side finish, its no wonder this luxurious take on the classic instrument sells for $15,000.
The Minimoog was originally released in 1970 by R.A. Moog Inc (which became Moog Music after 1972). Invented by Bill Hemsath and Robert Moog, production of the instrument ceased in 1981. In 2002 Robert Moog re-designed it and released it as the Minimoog Voyager. Now 10 years later, the anniversary edition is as regal as it is vintage in its appeal.
