Powdery Clock Faces

Shaped by Time by Studio Toer is Like a Self-Tending Zen Garden

Shaped by Time is a strikingly original clock design that looks to be a mix between an hourglass and an Etch-a-Sketch toy. Core77 even likens it to "a self-tending Zen garden." That is because it has a powdery surface (as if it were made out of a layer of flour) that lifts and falls to effectively tell the time. Essentially, the hands of the Shaped by Time clock are made up of raised lines of powder.

Designed by Studio Toer, the Shaped by Time clock represents a more granular concept of temporality. According to the designers, It "shapes itself by the passage of time. It looks for the most efficient way to move itself through the matter. By the slow repetitive movement it will create an organic shape."
