The colorful homes in the Do Ho Suh Fabric Residences installation piece are quite surreal. The light-as-air structures are made out of sheer-colored cloth and are suspended from the ceiling, giving them the appearance of floating.

The artist Do Ho Suh recreated some of his previous living accommodations ranging from his Manhattan apartment building to the unit he shared with his family. By using sheer gauzy materials draped over metal rods that give shape and structure to these installations, the artist demonstrates his interpretation of what a home is and the temporary nature of those homes. The result is a delicate and detailed rendition of different types of buildings that have a dream-like quality to them.
