The Evolution of Hollywood's Creativity is Explained in Numbers

'Short of the Week' has comprised an infographic on the evolution of Hollywood's creativity by exploiting numerous facts about today's film industry. In 1981 there were seven major original films released, two sequels and one adaption. Fast forward to 2011 and Hollywood produced eight blockbuster sequels and two adaptions. In 2011 there were no original films produced which were in the top ten grossing films of the year. The only original film in 2011 which made it in the top 15 grossing films of the year was Bridesmaids, which came in fourteenth place.

This infographic states the lack of creativity and innovation of high grossing films in modern day. This lack of creative thought divulges what audiences want to see --the sequels of previously high grossing films. This thought leaves ingenious production by the wayside.
