The Curtain Door is as atypical an entranceway as they come. As its name suggests, it has a malleable property that relates quite neatly to a curtain. Unlike traditional doors, the Curtain Door is made up of separately moving panels that allows it to peel open in a curvaceous way rather than on the straight and narrow. Quite impressive, this gives it a sculptural look that is quite dramatic. If books are judged by their covers, than this house offers a great introduction through its Curtain Door.
Designed by architectural firm Matharoo Associates, the Curtain Door is made out of 40 sections of thick warm Burma teak. Incorporated into the design are 160 pulleys, 80 ball bearings, one wire rope and a hidden counterweight to make it work smoothly.
