As per its name, the Nuage Lamp, which means 'cloud' in French, takes on an ethereal and abstract form. As though plucked from the skies above and tethered to a wall, the light fixture is slightly cartoonish with a clean and contemporary twist. The Nuage Lamp is made up of small modular panels with a grilled facade that filters the light through for a soft and romantic glow.
Designed by Philippe Nigro, the Nuage Lamp was created for Italian lighting manufacturer Foscarini. According to Contemporist, Nigro "wanted to create an object that was essentially graphic art, that was not looking to obtain a purely decorative effect but rather to develop a concept." He certainly accomplished that in a richly theatrical way.
