A fitting home for the Korea Hydro Nuclear Power (KHNP) Headquarters, this project designed by H Architecture takes its formal inspiration from the science of generating electricity. Expansive elliptical curves appear charged and full of potential energy as the building emerges from a narrow point into an enormous ascending structure.
Proposed for the South Korean mountainous area of Gyeongju, the office building embodies a truly unique shape that seems to carve its own place in the landscape. The cutting rounded contours of the steel and glass construction give way to a grand shielded courtyard plaza complete with a dish-shaped fountain and stepped sod seating. The expansive curl of the KHNP Headquarters is accented with glossy curtain wall windows that allude to the invisible path of orbiting electrons.
