Ben Schonzeit is a New York-based artist who has maintained a focus upon hyperreal food illustrations. His depictions of cheesecakes, black forest cakes and chocolate eclairs are incredibly detailed with portrayals of icing and sugar powder, enough to make any dessert enthusiast's mouth water.
Schonzeit's attainment of a BFA from Cooper Union in 1964 was met with his exploration of lifelike artwork. His focus upon pies, vegetables and fruits has been recognized on behalf of the Gerald Peters Gallery, the BernarducciMeisel Gallery and the Ojeda Gallery, only a few of the spots where his work has been exhibited. Animals and machines have also been the subject of Schonzeit's easel, and while his spectrum is broad, he has for the most part excluded human themes.
