David Elgena's WTHR iPhone app may not be the most technologically advanced or offer one with the most bang for their buck, but it certainly is a front-runner in terms of its carefully crafted design aesthetic.
The Miami designer responsible for the clean and simple lines featured in the weather forecasting application, took his inspiration from Dieter Rams' design principles that promote minimalist elements.
Rams said that design is meant to be unobtrusive and this weather application certainly fits that mold. Elgena created the app to be straightforward and easy to use and it features little more than the temperature and climate and a five day forecast. There is a toggle switch feature that lets the user change between Celsius and Fahrenheit however, but otherwise, its appeal lies in its basic functionality and ease of use.
