The Milkmaid Smart Jug is the brainchild of Quirky and GE, who were attempting to make everyday objects smarter using integrated software.
The beautifully designed Milkmaid Smart Jug is able to tell when your milk is going sour or when you are running out of milk. How it works is that you can store the milk in the transparent jug, which has pH sensors in the base. These pH sensors sense when the milk is souring, and once it goes bad, a reminder text to buy new milk is sent out to the user's phone. The jug also has weight sensors built into its base, and once they sense a reduced weight, a reminder text is again sent out to the user's phone. To top it all, there is also an iPhone app integrated with Milkmaid, which will tell you all you need to know about the milk.
Quirky has successfully created a working prototype of the Milkmaid Smart Jug, and is now testing for acceptable pricing.
