Sleek Sushi Carries

Gerlinde Gruber Creates an Eco-Friendly Sushi Takeaway Box

Designer Gerlinde Gruber created this packaging concept to house takeout sushi. Inspired by the streamlined silhouettes of Japanese fishing boats, this modular design is aptly entitled 'Fune,' the Japanese word for boat. The 'Fune' container is large enough to accommodate two maki rolls, or a tasty selection of nigiri. The design includes a soy sauce compartment for dipping and is fastened with a set of chopsticks. Free from flourish and excess material, this eco-friendly takeaway box is sleek and chic.

Gerlinde Gruber chose a bold color palette of black and red for her containers, as both hues are strongly associated with Japanese culture. The design includes a soy sauce compartment for dipping and is smartly fastened with a set of chopsticks. Crafted using biodegradable PET-coated cardboard, this modular design is an environmentally friendly alternative to those hulking styrofoam numbers.

Order sushi to your heart's content without harming the environment with this clever and brief Fune takeout container.
