'Type City', a convincing cityscape sculpture made of type press pieces, is Hong Seon Jang's newest eye-catching debut. Monochromatic and amazingly believable, this is a piece that incorporates words but needs none.

Incredibly dynamic, featuring a great variety of levels and structural details, 'Type City' is clearly a labor of love. Deliciously detailed -- even featuring a downtown core -- the manufactured landscape is eerily realistic despite its tiny size. Most buildings in the piece can be identified as typographical materials, due to the letters on top of the structures. Some backwards, sideways, or otherwise off, the lettering is a quirky touch to an already impressive piece.
