Decadent Pleasure Dome

John Galliano Paris Show

'In Xanadu did Kubla Khan, A stately pleasure-dome decree,' these were the Coleridge lines inscribed on British designer John Galliano's Paris show invitation. Galliano lived up to his reputation for lavish shows and sets by recreating a fabulous Kubla Khan pleasure dome that is out of this world. But despite the extravagant set which featured glitter-flecked pools, semi-naked men and gold Buddhas, there was no danger of the clothes being upstaged. This was Galliano at his exotic and famboyant best. The designs recalled the 1920's, Orient and featured draped, unstructured fabrics.
