Rustic Cavemen Hotels

The Caves of Civita Hotel in Sextantio Italy Offers Primitive Luxury

The Caves of Civita, located in Sextantio, Italy, is a hotel where guests can sleep and live like cavemen; the raw feel of rock elements resonates throughout the walls and corridors. The hotel blends in with the rock-themed buildings in the region of Sassi Di Matera, where homes canvas the land like an archaic ruin.

The Caves of Civita was created by Margareta Isabel Berg, Daniele Khilgren, Spa Progetti and Maurizio Sarcuni; their inspiration came from the environment of this town. The layout and design in this hotel says nothing more but simple and sophisticated.

The hotel offers a total of 18 rooms spread amongst three floors where guests have access to a connected staircase system leading to private terraces. The furniture is made from wood using an ancient technique while fabrics are hand sewn from flax cloth.

You won’t see dramatic decor or paintings here; everything is kept to a simple and minimal composition; no television, clubs or minibars. Each room offers Internet, air conditioning, under-floor heating and a stone carved fireplace. Guests who relish in this rocky retreat are treated to local goods.
