'Game Boy City' Depicts a Story Set in an All-Green Town

Prepare to overdose on nostalgia with this 'Game Boy City' video. Created by the folks of What Pixel You On?, 'Game Boy City' is an animated short that adopts the 8-bit look and all-green visuals synonymous with Nintendo’s original handheld system in order to tell its quirky narrative.

Viewers are introduced to a female protagonist early on in 'Game Boy City,' who states she wants to, “make something of [her]self,” and thus the adventure begins. Watchers are then greeted by an expansive pixilated metropolis before encountering a giant robot rampaging through the town. The female lead then uncovers a Game Boy Color from a magic box ala Super Mario Bros. and shoots rainbows out of the upgraded console to defeat the menacing threat.

If that description sounded zany, wait until you watch the video.
