'Me to We Artisans' Empowers Women & Promotes Tribal Style

'Me to We Artisans' is a collection of original accessories handcrafted by artisans around the world. The goal of this business is to create a global jewelry market promoting sustainable style online. Founder Roxanne Joyal was inspired to compile the collection and promote sustainable style after spending time with Maasai women in rural Kenya. These talented women that she met in Kenya made intricate beaded jewelry, but were forced to walk long distances sell their beadwork at markets without making a profit.

Now, the artisan jewelry is displayed online to an international market. This sustainable business model allows half the profit from each item sold to go back to the woman who created it while the other half is reinvested back into the artisans program. The artisans can now determine how much they would like to produce and gain significantly more profit than they previously did. Each artisan is empowered to increase her savings so she can contribute to her family by purchasing food and medicine, as well as paying school fees and save for the future.

The Artisans collection has since expanded and now fans of this fabulous accessory line can host a ‘Trunk Show’ within their own home. Trunk Show participants can learn the story behind each piece, try designs on and then have the jewelry mailed directly to their home. The goal of the home Trunk Show is to help people celebrate sustainable style and learn about amazing countries such as Kenya and India where the accessories are created.
