Kite-Powered Concept Cars

The Honda Kaze Harnesses Wind and Sun Power to Work

Here's hoping it won't take until the year 2050 for a vehicle like the Honda Kaze to become a reality. Sadly, most Westerners are not currently concerned enough for the welfare of the planet to significantly reduce their use of a car as a primary means of transportation, but with concepts like this one on the horizon, perhaps saying goodbye to one's private ride will no longer be a natural necessity.

The Zero Emissions Car was conceived as a submission for a competition and it certainly incorporates a variety of features to guarantee it would get noticed. The expansive curving windshield is enhanced by transparent solar panels, and a slanted sail on the back of the Honda Kaze can catch wind for propulsion. A kite strung out front of the eco automobile augments the forward thrust when the weather conditions are sufficiently gusty.

Wind-powered Vehicles
Designing vehicles that harness the power of wind will continue to be a promising trend for eco-conscious transportation innovators like Honda.
Solar-powered Vehicles
As solar technology advances, incorporating more solar panels into vehicle design will be a promising trend to combat emissions from traditional fuel sources.
Alternative Transportation
As more people become eco-conscious, innovating eco-friendly transportation options, like the Honda Kaze, will become increasingly important for the transportation industry.

Who This Affects Most

Automotive
The automotive industry must continue to push the boundaries of eco-friendly vehicles like the Honda Kaze using innovative wind and solar-powered technology.
Renewable Energy
With the rising demand for clean energy sources to power vehicles, renewable energy industries will play an important role in developing technologies to power the vehicles of tomorrow.
Transportation
As the world transitions to a more eco-friendly future, transportation companies will need to adapt to incorporate alternative modes of travel, such as wind and solar-powered vehicles, to remain relevant.
