MIT student Stephan Boyer has built the Bullet Unicycle, a self-balancing unicycle that makes getting around campus easier than ever. Boyer's Bullet has a MIG-welded steel chassis and a 450 Watt electric motor powered by two 7Ah 12 volt batteries.
The Bullet Unicycle is raw to say the least, but you can't argue with its performance. Boyer can be seen zipping down a hallway in the Bullet in the video here. Unicycles were once reserved for circus performers, but recently major companies such as Honda have been experimenting with commercial unicycles powered by electricity. While Boyer's Bullet Unicycle is nowhere near as advanced as Honda's it's still nice to see students designing awesome and eco-friendly modes of transportation out of scratch.
