The Daihatsu Pico's Doors are Programmed to Flash Messages to Motorists

The Daihatsu PICO was easily one of the strangest concepts unveiled at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. Daihatsu's EV could very well be an example of a new class of car; perhaps a class designed exclusively for short, inner-city trips.

The Daihatsu PICO is smaller than a Smart and slightly more powerful than a golf cart. The PICO charges in two hours, averages about 31 miles-per-charge and can top out at 31mph. The PICO has a futuristic design highlighted by its LED ticker doors. The doors are used to display your speed to other drivers as well as warning messages. Another unique feature of the PICO is its on-board radar display. While the Daihatsu PICO is a concept in its truest form, don't be shocked if you see more and more EVs designed to make short trips in style.
